AED DONATIONS!!! KM is incredibly grateful to the Wisconsin Masonic Foundation for their donation of 17 Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs). This gift will help strengthen student, staff, and community safety by providing life saving equipment in our schools. The foundation is committed to charitable efforts that support health, safety, education, and community service across Wisconsin. "We believe strongly in supporting initiatives that protect and enhance the well-being of our communities,” said Peter Tourville, President of the Wisconsin Masonic Foundation. “We are grateful for the opportunity to partner with the Kettle Moraine School District in providing these AEDs, which can make a critical difference in emergency situations. The safety of students, educators, families, and visitors is something we all share responsibility for, and we are proud to contribute to that mission.” The Foundation also recognized the important role of ZOLL as the AED supplier partner in helping make the initiative possible and for the efforts of district leadership. “We are pleased to work alongside ZOLL, whose commitment to innovation and lifesaving technology aligns closely with our mission of community care and public safety. Strong partnerships like this help expand access to critical emergency response resources throughout Wisconsin. We also deeply value the work being done by the Kettle Moraine School District and appreciate the dedication of everyone involved in creating a safe and supportive environment for students to learn and thrive."

GRADUATES RETURN TO THEIR ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS!!! Each year, Kettle Moraine graduates return to their elementary schools to reconnect with former teachers and encourage younger students. The visits give graduates a chance to reflect on how far they have come while elementary students enjoy meeting and learning from older students they admire. These traditions highlight the strong connections across the district and the spirit of One KM.

MEGA MATH MEET!!! While most students were winding down for the summer, a select group of Kettle Moraine middle schoolers were gearing up to face some of the most daunting academic challenges in the state. This year’s Mega Math Meet threw a major curveball at our team. Because the competition fell on the exact same day as our 8th-grade graduation, our veteran 8th-graders couldn't attend. Rather than throwing in the towel, eight courageous 7th graders answered the call, stepping up to take their places against older, more experienced teams. Walking into a room dominated by 8th graders is intimidating enough on its own. But the Master of Ceremonies didn't mince words, kicking off the morning by telling the crowd: “We intentionally made these problems challenging, and we do not expect you to get many correct today.” Instead of letting the high-pressure introduction get the best of them, our 7th graders dug in. Individually, each student powered through 4 individual tests. Then, they came together as a group of 8, facing a ticking clock with just 20 minutes to collaborate and solve 6 grueling Team Challenge problems. They showed incredible grit, collaborated beautifully, and attacked every single round with an admirable "we've got this" attitude. We are incredibly proud of these students for demonstrating that true academic talent isn't just about getting the right answer; it’s about having the courage to face unkown challenges and figuring out what to do when you don't know what to do.
Want to try what they faced? Here are two samples from the competition:
A Team Challenge Problem: Two 12-hour clocks are defective. The clock on the left runs clockwise at a constant rate of 57 minutes per 1 hour of actual elapsed time, while the clock on the right runs counterclockwise at a rate of 51 minutes per hour. If both clocks are initially set at 12:00, what time will be displayed the very next moment their displays are identical to one another?
The Answer: 6:20
Mental Math Problem: 10 seconds without pencils or paper
What is the sum of all prime numbers between 10 and 20?
The Answer: 60
Thank you Ms. Jacobsen for the wonderful write up!
