KM ALUM COMPETING IN OLYMPIC TRIALS!!! Delafield native and Kettle Moraine alum Blair Cruikshank is chasing Olympic dreams! The long-track speed skater will compete at the U.S. Olympic Team Trials this January at Milwaukee’s Pettit National Ice Center, where athletes will race for a spot on Team USA at the 2026 Winter Games in Italy. Blair grew up surrounded by speed skating greatness. Her mom, Bonnie Blair, is a five-time gold medalist, and her dad, David Cruikshank, competed in four Games. Blair, who had no intentions of following in her parents' path, became hooked the first time she laced up a pair of speed skates. TOP CHEF!!! On October 28, members of the Army National Guard visited Mrs. Jordan’s Foods for Life classroom to host a “Top Chef” competition featuring military MREs (Meals Ready to Eat). Students worked in teams to create a three-course meal for the judges, showcasing their creativity, teamwork, and the culinary skills they’ve developed throughout the course. The event was filled with laughter, friendly competition, and valuable learning experiences as students discovered new ways to adapt and innovate with limited ingredients. It was a fun learning experience for all!
KM DECA ANNUAL FOOD DRIVE! The annual food drive for KM DECA began on October 13th and ended today. The drive has been happening annually at Kettle Moraine High School for over 50 years and continues to grow. Students who are a part of DECA or who are in one of Mr. Ksobiech' marketing classes have the opportunity to give back to their community by distributing bags for food donations in nearby neighborhoods and then collecting the filled bags to be transported to Waukesha Food Pantry to help those in need. We are very thankful to Pick 'N Save for providing the bags we use for collection and Target for providing the trailer that transports the food to Waukesha Food Pantry. One important aspect of our DECA chapter is community service and we were able to collect more than 9,000lbs of food!!
STATE CROSS COUNTRY QUALIFIER!!! Graham Kelchen qualified for the state meet this weekend, taking 8th. His time of 16:01.30 is also a new KM Cross Country school record!!
KMHS CAMPUS MUSICAL THE WIZARD OF OZ!!! November 13-15 7:00 PM, November 16 2:00 PM @ Kettle Moraine Prism Arts Center. We're off to see the wizard! This beloved tale, in which a Kansas farm girl travels over the rainbow to discover the magical power of home, has entertained audiences for generations. INFO NIGHTS AND OPEN HOUSES!!! We have a number of exciting events coming up to introduce students to our KM High School Choices. The KMHS Campus Expo on November 5th is a great opportunity for middle school families to explore the high school and learn more about our charter schools. In addition, we have our K-12 KM Showcase for all families and community members on February 18th! These are fantastic opportunities to learn about our schools and have conversations with students, staff, and administrators.

AP PARENT INFORMATION NIGHT WELL ATTENDED!!! We had an excellent turnout last night for the AP Info Night in the Prism Art Center. Dr. Plum and Ms. Kopidlansky shared an informative presentation on how to navigate the AP system, manage coursework, and maximize the benefits, both academically and financially, from this valuable program. Many parents stayed to talk with staff, ask questions, and gain additional insights afterward. AP tests have potentially saved KM 9-12 students $1.5M in tuition, based on last year's test-takers! Advanced Placement programming is facilitated by The College Board, a non-profit organization that helps high school students succeed academically by providing courses with college-level rigor and the opportunity to earn college credits. KM strongly encourages our students to challenge themselves by taking AP courses and currently offers 21 AP courses with more under consideration. Subject matter includes art, outreach, computer science, English, math, music, science, and social studies. Watch for an upcoming Capturing KM on this event.
KM MOUNTAIN BIKE TEAM FINISHES SEASON!!! This past weekend was the last race of the season for the KMHS mountain bike team. Over 1300 student athletes from across the state descended on the Trek Headquarters in Waterloo for the Red Barn Classic. It's quite a special treat for the athletes to be able to ride on Trek's private trails. The JVIII racers faced really challenging conditions with rain, cold, and a ton of mud, but they all pushed through and did a great job. Fortunately, the weather improved as the day went on so that JVII, Freshman, and open athletes had nearly perfect conditions for their races, with Rachel Meyers achieving a 4th place podium finish. We want to give a special shout out to the seniors Lucas Heimsch, Gabe Wendt, and Dillon Morrison; we wish them all the best in their next adventures, and we look forward to seeing the rest of our riders back next season. LEADERSHIP AT KMHS!!! The high school leadership class visited KM Explore to share books on leadership they created for a young audience, using Book Creator. The high school students had the opportunity to present their learning and creativity while observing how second and third graders engaged with the content. It was a memorable One KM experience filled with learning, fun, and leadership in action!

EXPERIENCE THE TRADES!!! This week, Mr. Callies and Mr. Zuck attended the Waukesha County Business Alliance Experience the Trades Expo with a group of students from Perform and KMHS. Manufacturing and construction are driver industries in Waukesha County and the event created hands-on experiences that allow students to explore trades such as welding, cement work, carpentry, automation, engineering, and more. Students connected with local employers and learned about the various opportunities and career paths in the trades. The expo also brought students together from two of our high schools to share their creative and technical interests in an exciting day of learning as ONE KM!!
