The videos of these projects have a STEM “flavor” but are really about increasing students’ skills in problem solving, persistence, creativity, and project management.

  • 6th grade tour.  Conor F. made a Duke themed shelf as a surprise gift for Laura.

  • 7th grade tour.  They have the added challenge of learning how to 3D model every component of their project and assemble it virtually to “prototype” their idea before making it.

  • Kenzie B.’s (7th) basketball organizer was made for her sister.  This is a good example of 3D modeling.

  • Olivia P. and Willa B. (7th) sensory table for students with special needs at the request of Sue Frey and Mel Rivera.

  • Want to buy a “KM” themed bench?  Emily A. (7th) finished her primary project and created a secondary project.  She made two benches and donated one to the school store to be sold.  Big thanks to Margaret Ottenad for supporting this idea.

  • Rylee (7th) made a monster themed candy dispenser.  She showed tons of grit getting things to align properly and control the amount of candy dispensed.

  • Example 8th grade infinity mirrors.  This project prepares the students for the “big” final capstone project with learning things like the workshop procedures, new wood joints (rabbet, dado, miter), using the laser cutter, etc.

  • Logan S. and Levi S. (8th) gave up their structured study to do a STEM Independent Study.  During that time they created this four player titling level maze game which was gifted to Mr. Steffanus.

  • Brooke A. and Elsa H. (8th) made this children’s Yoshi chair.

  • Hannah L., Kaitlyn M., and Rhlea K. made an upscaled “Lite Brite”

  • Ben R. and Zander’s (8th) this soccer table was donated to the lunch room for students to enjoy during lunch.

  • Jules H. (8th) did an independent study with me, completed, and delivered her octo-alien game named “Harry” to Dousman Elementary.
